4TH & 5TH Grades

October 2017

We have started our Recorder Unit! We have been reviewing the pitches G, A, and B. At this point, students should be able to play those three pitches independently. We have also looked at a few more notes in our song "Yankee Doodle."

4th and 5th grade students have been invited to practice and play "Yankee Doodle" in our Veterans Day Program this year. Students may find the fingering chart and the sheet music on my Recorder Music page.

September 2017

While out on maternity leave, our students learned about the composers J. S. Bach and Rossini. They learned about the organ, opera music, and classical music.

We reviewed beat and rhythm with a song called "Happy Day."

We are now learning a song called "A Wise Old Owl." We have learned about Major and minor tonalities, we have been singing the pitches Do, La, and Mi, and we have been playing contrasting rhythms on Orff instruments.
